My course has allowed me to study a range of topics across both economics and finance, as well as other disciplines such as law and politics.

Lectures are enjoyable and interesting and other methods of teaching such as tutorials and seminars allow for further engagement with material.

I completed my placement year working in the Finance department of the clothing company Joules. My placement was a rotational placement, meaning I spent 6 months working in the Financial Planning and Analysis team and 6 months in the Management Accounts team. Aside from building my technical and analytical knowledge, the placement gave me huge amounts of responsibility and developed my communication skills.

The experience also developed my work ethic, benefitting my studies in my final year of university. Although I do not currently have a graduate job in place, I am keen to pursue a career which allows me to further develop my problem solving and analytical skills.

One of my final year modules was project based and involved writing a report and preparing a presentation on an economic issue of my choice. The freedom of the module meant I was challenged to complete the project with very little guidance, similar to how I would be expected to work in a graduate role.

During my time at Loughborough, I have been given countless opportunities to develop my employability. Acting as a Peer Mentor in my second year allowed me to develop leadership and interpersonal skills and provided a good conversation starter for placement interviews! Loughborough Business School also provide a fantastic Placements Office, who offer CV checks, mock assessment centres and mock interviews to prepare for job applications. All of this has made me feel confident when applying for jobs and attending interviews and assessment centres.

Being a student at Loughborough has pushed me to achieve more than I ever thought I could.

The university has given me so many opportunities (both academically and socially) that I would not have had otherwise and has inspired me to continue to develop and grow in the future. Studying at Loughborough has been the best decision I have ever made and also a decision I know will continue to benefit me in my future career.

Amey graduated from Loughborough University in 2019.
