I am aspiring to study a masters in sports journalism. The first-year module Sport and Social Sciences made me realise that I really enjoy writing about my own opinions and feel passionate about social issues, so sports journalism seemed a clear career path.

I have found that seminars and labs have been particularly beneficial for me, as they allow you to ask questions and gain a greater clarity and understanding in a more practical and interactive manner. Loughborough and Sports Science go hand in hand, the sports halls, gyms and lab facilities have been great to experience some really engaging practical sessions in.

I have been receiving ongoing support from the student wellbeing team for anxiety. I have frequent appointments with my wellbeing officer who has been able to signpost different resources and communicate with lecturers/tutors on my behalf to allow for any support/adjustment I need.

These support services have been invaluable to me, and it’s been really nice to have someone to help me to keep on top of everything and try to lessen some of the barriers that make university life a bit harder for me.

I would recommend utilising the student support services, particularly the student wellbeing team. They have been a massive help in showing me what resources are available and helping me to access them, as well as generally checking up on me.

I chose to do my course at Loughborough University as I knew it would be at the cutting edge of the sporting industry. I am also a rugby player, and the rugby programme was a significant factor as well.

I coach the Road to Rugby IMS programme for individuals who have never played rugby before but wanted to give the sport a go. I’ve really enjoyed seeing the progression from week 1 to now where they’re all playing in the super series.

I would say if you love sport and know it’s what you want to go into but you’re not quite sure what specifically you want to do - then this course is a great shout. There’s quite a wide range of modules and you can benefit from the exposure to a lot of different branches of the industry.
