The fantastic facilities at Loughborough have provided excellent settings to solidify my understanding of theoretical knowledge. Being able to engage in practical sessions in gyms such as Powerbase have encouraged me to delve deeper into the topics that were covered in the practical sessions.

I have enjoyed the practical elements of my course that help me make connections between the content that is covered in lectures and its implementation in a work setting.

I chose to study my course at Loughborough University as it is one of the most prominent sporting universities internationally, offers brilliant facilities and excels in research.

I did a placement as a PE teaching assistant at an international school in Romania. In my second semester, I worked as a football coach in a youth football academy in Austria. These experiences were invaluable to help me understand how the pedagogical behaviour I learned about in my teaching and coaching modules transferred to work settings. Additionally, I was able to use the year to network.

After my undergraduate degree, I will be undertaking a PE PGCE at Loughborough. In the future, I aim to work as an international school PE teacher and as a coach in the schools I am employed in.

My time at Loughborough has helped me prepare for this as it has helped me develop a lot of the pedagogical strategies required to teach and coach.

Additionally, I was introduced to innovative teaching methods such as models-based practice, a topic I am exploring further for my dissertation project.

My highlights of my time at Loughborough were getting into the Men’s Football (4th) team in my second year and now playing for the third team.

I would advise anyone who plans to teach or coach in the future to take this course.
