As a Human Biology student at Loughborough University, you will be provided with countless opportunities to grow, learn and have fun.

I am incredibly proud to have completed a placement year with the England Cricket Board as a Medical Intern, based in the National Cricket Performance Centre on the Loughborough University campus.

Throughout this experience, I worked alongside the Science and Medicine team and had the opportunity to get involved in various jobs, not only developing knowledge relating to my course, but also professional and interpersonal skills which I will be able to utilise in my future career.

The highlight of my placement has been the opportunity to visit cricket grounds to carry out concussion baseline testing with county players. This allowed me to meet new people, players and staff members, and gain an insight into the elite sport environment.

During my degree, I have utilised the expertise of lecturers, lab technicians and module leaders whenever I have a query relating to my course or any specific topic. I was always able to get clarification and reassurance regarding the question, helping my understanding of the content.

The hands-on labs and seminars on the course are particularly enjoyable. Putting the lecture knowledge into practice and applying it to situations similar to a work setting environment is invaluable for our learning and prepares us for life beyond university.

After graduation, I plan to be a performance nutritionist. Being surrounded by sport at Loughborough and gaining elite sport experience during my placement, combined with my interest in nutrition has inspired me to explore sports nutrition as my chosen career.

I am hoping to stay at Loughborough University next year to study a masters in Physiology and Nutrition of Sport and Exercise.

Outside of my studies, I am a member of the performance squash team. Growing with all the members through the years, training hard and celebrating with socials has really shaped my student experience.

If you don’t know exactly what career you would like to pursue but enjoy the science of human biology, this course covers a wide range of modules for you to explore different areas and allows you to find what you’re truly passionate about.
