Loughborough Cycling Academy

Media, Marketing & Communications Team

At the beginning of the academic year 35 students were recruited to form sport specific MMC teams across several of Loughborough’s performance programmes. With cycling becoming one of the latest additions to performance sport on campus, the team have been driven to raise both the profile of their programme and the athletes alike

Since being recruited the students have actively engaged in a series of MMC Masterclasses, even dashing back from their own training at Derby’s Velodrome to attend an evening Masterclass here on campus. In addition, the students regularly combine their own racing with media coverage, recently taking part in their second Instagram “Take-Over” of Loughborough Sports Channel to cover the BUCS Cycling: Track Championship in Manchester over the 23rd-24th November.

November also saw the us host a Red Bull Marketing Masterclass and Race Day Prep session with Team GB Cyclist, Evie Richards. Not only did the Cycling MMC Team take part in both sessions to develop themselves but utilised the opportunity to collect content for their own channel which was later used on Evie’s own Instagram channel of 50k followers.

We are looking forward to the rest of the year to see how the academy’s MMC Team develops their content and channels, especially in light of the recent news that Loughborough has secured the tender to host the youth national circuit series in 2020.
