Coaching and Volunteering
Our Coach and Volunteer Academy (CVA) provides our students, staff and local community members with valuable sport based coaching, volunteering and leadership opportunities to enhance their experience and personal development.
We offer a range of opportunities for both students and community members to get involved in a number of different strands, all designed to develop and enhance both employability and softer skills needed for a successful career in the sports industry and beyond.
Other Voluntary Opportunities
Not all voluntary roles at Loughborough University fit within one of our 7 strands; however any student undertaking voluntary work in sport alongside their degree programme is part of the Coach & Volunteer Academy.
The Coach & Volunteer Academy supports the recruitment and development of all of these individuals, and they get access to the same support & developmental opportunities as everyone else.
Sports Committee Positions:
Loughborough Sport prides itself on being student run and student led; therefore all our internal programmes are supported by a number of student committees. We provide support for all these volunteers in order to give them the skills needed to lead on these programmes.
Loughborough Sport Ambassadors:
Loughborough Sport Ambassadors represent the university at a number of high profile events, delivering outreach activities including: school visits, university open days and conferences. The ambassadors are the ‘face of Loughborough Sport’ providing activities on campus and across the UK.
Hall Sport Secretaries
These volunteers are elected members onto the committees of their halls of residence; their role is to deliver the Hall Sport programme (IMS) to all other student members within their residence.
And many others!
Just like the all the opportunities within our strands, all these roles will be advertised through our volunteer management programme, the CVA Portal. For more information, please visit our “How to get involved” page.
Support and Development
The Coach & Volunteer Academy offers a number of different opportunities for our student volunteers to enhance skills linked with increasing employability prospects and personal development.
93% of students involved in the Coach & Volunteer Academy are employed or in further education within 6 months of graduating Loughborough University, with almost all suggesting that the Coach & Volunteer Academy was highly valuable when it came to finding their dream job!
