Table Tennis at Loughborough caters for players of all abilities; from the highest standard BUCS players to those who are looking for a much less competitive, social game.
Athletic Union Club
Our club has a total of seven teams. Three men’s and two women’s performance teams compete in the BUCS league, and our two development teams compete in the Loughborough League tournament as well as other friendly matches. Our performance teams also compete in BUCS individual competitions, the Loughborough League and the Loughborough League tournament.
We are a very successful squad with our men’s first team winning BUCS gold in recent seasons. Student teams have also won both the premier and first divisions of the Loughborough and District Table Tennis League.
Our club also features a popular development league in which players with little or no previous experience can enjoy the sport in a relaxed and social environment. We offer coaching sessions run by experienced players and coaches, including Joseph Bell, who coaches our performance teams, and Peter Crown, who coaches our development teams.
Training usually takes place once a week for each team, and we train in the Edward Herbert Building. If you wish to train more, you will always find someone to play against within our club.
Hall Sport (IMS)
We encourage you to compete in table tennis for your halls, as there are numerous competitions available throughout the year. You compete against other halls, and it’s a great way to get involved in hall life and meet new people in a more social and less competitive environment.
Table tennis is also available recreationally through the My Lifestyle initiative. The turn up and play programme is open to everyone. There are no membership fees, you can just turn up and enjoy playing table tennis.
Indoor tables can be found in most halls as well as outdoor tables just outside the Hub in the student village.
