Taekwondo

Taekwondo at Loughborough offers classes for both beginners and experienced members as well as freestyle training sessions; so there is something available for all abilities.

Athletic Union Club

Loughborough Students Taekwon-Do is a long-standing club formed in 1995 by senior members of the GTUK, one of the largest and most established independent groups for Taekwondo-Do in the UK. We practice ITF style of Taekwondo, but welcome people from all martial arts backgrounds. We cater to all levels from complete beginners to black belts.

We offer the opportunity to train with a senior International GTUK instructor alongside a full club up to five times a week. We run separate classes every week for beginners and senior members as well as freestyle training session where you have time to practice whatever you have learned with our Club Captains. Senior members are always available and willing to help.

The club actively encourages its members to take part in competitions throughout the year including BUCS, the GTUK National Championships, University Championships, and BUTL Nationals and World Championships. Loughborough has a fantastic tradition of winning medals whenever we compete, long may it continue!

The club is an excellent way to make friends and meet new people. We hold regular socials outside of training which is a great way for new members to get to know one another.

Training frequency

We train up to five times per week. This usually includes 2 instructed sessions with our instructor, with one session split into beginners and seniors, and one combined session. We also hold 3 free-training sessions, where members can practice whatever they want either individually or with guidance from our captains and any senior members leading their own sessions.
