Dave Lindley

Dave Lindley

Head Coach

Dave leads the Loughborough Badminton performance programme which aims to provide athletes with a high quality training environment enabling athletes to develop their skills through a flexible approach to training which works around their academic studies.

Dave joined Loughborough in September 2019 following 9 years coaching the England Senior and Junior athletes as a National Coach, prior to coaching Dave represented the England Senior Team as an athlete for 10 years competing at the highest levels of the sport.

Badminton Programme Coordinator

Matt is our Badminton Programme Coordinator and his primary role is to ensure the smooth running and operation of the programme on a day to day basis as well as working to develop the programme and enhance provision for our athletes. He also supports the coaching programme and works with advanced squad players on a weekly basis.

Matt joined Loughborough in November 2018 following many years coaching at a high level including managing the England Under 13 and U15 performance programmes for 6 years. Prior to his coaching career Matt represented England as a junior athlete and experienced playing success at university where he represented Great Britain at the World Student Games and was a 2 time BUCS team and individuals champion.

John Quinn

Assistant Coach (Para and Doubles)

John is our Assistant Coach and supports Dave with the on court coaching programme. As well as delivering on court coaching John is the lead coach for a number of elite players and the para programme and supports athletes with their individual development plans.

John joined the Loughborough badminton team in December 2018 following 2 years as a national coach with Badminton Ireland. John is a former world junior champion as an athlete and has coached at the highest level for many years including national coach roles in four different countries. Throughout his coaching experience John has worked with players at the very highest level including Olympic, World, European and Commonwealth medallists.

Chris Langridge

Performance Doubles Consultant Coach

Chris started working with the programme as a consultant coach in 2022. Chris is one of the most successful badminton players England have produced in recent years. He is an Olympic bronze medallist, Commonwealth gold medallist, European Games gold medallist and has over 20 international titles at senior level.

Chris has been a qualified coach for over 10 years and recently spent 1 year coaching the French National Team which included players ranked in the top 10 in the world.

Atu Rosalina

Assistant Coach (Singles)

Atu returned to working with the programme in 2022 having previously been a university coach until 2018. Atu is a former international player and achieved a highest world ranking of 20 in womens singles, was an Uber Cup Team member for Indonesia and won multiple titles at international challenge level.

Atu has been involved in coaching for over 15 years and worked with players from grassroots up to international level players in Denmark and England.

Megan Willoughby

Strength and Conditioning Coach

Megan provides strength and conditioning support to our performance badminton athletes, tailoring their programmes to meet their individual needs and working closely with the on court coaches and the wider interdisciplinary team to achieve this.

Megan holds an MSc in Strength and Conditioning. Prior to taking this role she spent 2 years on a paid placement with Loughborough Sport with the Men’s Rugby, Women’s Cricket and Lightning Cricket programmes. Most recently Megan has been working with the Boxing Centre of Excellence and Motorsport Division that train at Loughborough Sport.  

Bethan Crouse

Performance Nutritionist

Bethan provides Performance Nutrition support to the Badminton Performance Programme, which includes 1-1 athlete support as well as squad-wide nutrition delivery. 

Bethan is a Registered Associate Nutritionist, having graduated from Cardiff Metropolitan with a degree in Nutrition, she is now completing an MSc in Nutrition and Physiology for Sport and Exercise, alongside a Part-Time Performance Nutrition Placement with the Badminton, Lightning Rugby and Women's Hockey programmes at Loughborough.

Naomi Sargent

Naomi Sargent

Physiotherapist

Naomi joined Loughborough University Physiotherapy Clinic in November 2022 and is the Lead Physiotherapist for Badminton, Squash & Tennis and Netball support.

Naomi qualified as a physiotherapist in 2014 from the University of Nottingham and has since gained a breadth of experience working in public, private and sporting settings.

Naomi began her career in the NHS, working within a variety of areas before specialising in musculoskeletal physiotherapy, where she realised her particular interest was for sports rehabilitation. Due to this, as well as working within the NHS, Naomi also worked with Nottingham Rugby Club, where she could further focus on sports-specific rehab, appreciating the importance of injury prevention, specialised conditioning, and recovery as well as rehab post-injury.
