The Athletic Union (AU) Badminton Club

The badminton club is one of the biggest in the university with over 115 members and we cater for a wide range of players from club level up to elite international level. The club runs a progressive pathway consisting of 5 groups as shown in the pathway diagram below.

The club currently has 6 men’s teams and 4 women’s teams that compete in the BUCS leagues which provides lots of opportunity for competitive play and the chance to represent the university. We also field teams in the local Leicestershire league as well as organising our own internal events.

In 2019, the club were awarded the prestigious ‘AU Club of the Year’ which is recognition for some of the excellent work done by the whole club. This included organising a national circuit tournament, launching a mental wellness campaign and achieving excellent results in BUCS competition. Since then, the club has continued to achieve in competiition and provide a great experience for it's members.
