Women's Performance Hockey

Loughborough University offers a unique environment to develop in sport whilst gaining a prestigious degree. Loughborough Students Hockey Club offers many competitive opportunities, the first team play in the England Hockey Premier League (outdoor) and Midlands Premier Division (indoor) as well as the British Universities & Colleges Sport (BUCS) Premier League.

Each year Loughborough University invests a million pounds in performance sport, and a million pounds in facilities. Thanks to this investment, Head Coach Brett Holland is able to lead a professional programme of coaching and support.

As a first team squad member you will receive expert coaching, access to our world class facilities, heavily discounted Powerbase gym membership, strength and conditioning training, sports science and sports medicine support.

A normal week includes:

1:1 meetings with the Head Coach
2 team training sessions
2 individual skill sessions
2 matches - BUCS on Wednesday and National League at the weekend
Strength and conditioning sessions
Team video analysis
Massage and physiotherapy

Brett Holland

Head Coach

Leading the women’s programme is Head Coach Brett Holland. Brett brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the programme, with previous involvement including leading the Loughborough Women’s 2nd team and a year in Australia running a junior hockey club.

Brett also has strong links with England Hockey; coaching within the pathway and as a coach educator.

Andrew Gibson

Assistant Coach & 2nd XI Coach

Having joined the Women's Programme at the start of the 2018/19 season, Andy brings a wealth of national and international experience, having worked with Junior International teams for both England Hockey and Hockey Wales. As well as supporting Head Coach Brett Holland in coaching the Performance Squad, Andy will lead the coaching provision to the 2nd XI.
