Loughborough Sport to participate in social media boycott to stamp out online abuse

Boycott

Loughborough Sport and Loughborough Lightning have confirmed today that they will stand with the wider sporting community by taking part in a social media boycott from 15:00 on Friday 30 April to 23:59 on Monday 3 May.

The boycott will cover Loughborough Sport and Loughborough Lightning social media channels.

The boycott comes in response to ongoing discrimination, bullying and racism online aimed at athletes, fans and all members of sport, and by taking part Loughborough Sport would like to reiterate its stance to zero tolerance in all aspects and levels of sport.

Standing arm in arm with its partners and fellow members of the sporting community, Loughborough Sport aims to encourage social media companies to tackle the problem head on.
