Throughout the week, teams from the University will deliver workshops promoting positive sporting values and reminding athletes of their responsibilities.
Held virtually and shared through Loughborough Sport’s social media channels, the positive values of clean sport and fairness interlock with the wider Loughborough approach to provide a life-shaping sporting experience on campus.
Teams will also be promoting UK Anti-Doping’s (UKAD) Clean Sport webinar, 'Sport and its post pandemic landscape'.
Simon Wombwell, Education and Development Manager at Loughborough University, said:
“We are proud to have offered sport-specific Clean Sport education workshops to all our Performance Programme athletes this academic year and in turn delivered to several hundred athletes.
“For many of those new to Loughborough and just reaching performance levels in their sport it is the first education they have received on the subject. Many of our athletes studying within the School of Sport, Exercise and Health Sciences (SSEHS) will have clean sport topics covered directly within their academic programme too.
“We also encourage student-athletes to complete the online UKAD Clean Sport Advisor course to expand their knowledge further.”
Loughborough has strong links with UKAD, a relationship that has been strengthened further by the organisation recently announcing the relocation of its headquarters from London to SportPark, based at the Loughborough University Science and Enterprise Park (LUSEP).
