Loughborough Women's MCCU depart for Spain

On the 9th April, 12 of our MCCU women's players head out to Desert Springs for a 5-day preseason training camp ahead of a busy summer of cricket.

The training camp will provide a fantastic opportunity for the students to prepare for a big summer of BUCS cricket as they look to defend their Championship title for an impressive eighth year. The preseason camp will also allow for county cricket and Kia Super League preparation.

For the first time this year, the players will get to train outdoors in both nets and in the middle. They'll also be able to continue their S&C work in the fantastic gym facilities at Desert Springs.

Being able to train outdoors will provide a much more realistic setting for their scenario-based work, and is great preparation for the summer ahead. On the penultimate day, the team will play in a friendly fixture against a boys’ club which will provide a competitive opportunity before the BUCS season commences.

Captain Lucy Higham said:

“We’ve got a great group of girls going and we can’t wait to get out there and play some cricket outside. It’s been a long winter and everyone’s worked hard across the board so it will be a great opportunity for the girls to be able to transfer these skills to an outside setting. The game will also provide our first chance to play some competitive cricket before the summer starts. A bit of sun and some warm weather won’t go a miss either!"
