Lightning name squad for Gloucester-Hartpury Women clash

Lightning will look to put last week’s defeat to Harlequins behind them, as they gear up to take on Gloucester-Hartpury Women, in what promises to be an exciting match this Saturday.

The game, which forms part of a double header with Loughborough Students RFC who play Plymouth Albion RFC in the National One League, will be held on the 15th December and kick off at 12pm at Loughborough University.

In their last meeting in the Tyrrells Premiership 15’s Lightning pipped Gloucester-Hartpury to the post, scoring in the final play of the game to take the win 41-40. Since that defeat Hartpury have gained momentum with big wins over, Bristol Bears and Darlington Mowden Park Sharks in the past few weeks. Lightning, however, will be looking to make the most of their home advantage and show Hartpury what they are about, attacking from all areas of the pitch and dominating in attack.

Of the game, Head Coach Rhys Edwards commented:

"Looking ahead to the weekend, Gloucester-Hartpury are a very difficult team to play against. They have some real pace out wide and some very clinical heavy forwards, so it’s important that we apply the defensive pressure that we had against Wasps to stop them getting the ball out wide. We are excited that we have another opportunity perform this weekend. Quins were excellent last week and we need to now raise our game back to the high standards we set at the start of the season. We know that Gloucester-Hartpury will want revenge after our last minute win over them away, so they will come at us hard but if we apply ourselves, play in the right areas then we know we can get points on the board."

Loughborough Lightning will kick of the double header at 12pm. Lightning will be in action for the last time this year at Bristol Ladies on the 22nd December.
