Loughborough Tennis, proud to be named the 2024/25 LTA University of the Year, offers opportunities for players of all levels from complete beginners to competitive athletes to enjoy the sport, improve their game, and be part of an inspiring tennis environment.
The Loughborough Students’ AU Tennis Club brings together over 100 members, with men’s and women’s teams competing in BUCS competitions and a strong Development programme providing pathways for aspiring players. Development squad members enjoy regular training and the chance to compete in both internal and external tournaments, helping them progress towards competitive play.
Coaching is available for all abilities, from beginner sessions to elite training for performance players. The club benefits from Loughborough’s world-class facilities and expert coaching staff – an environment that has helped produce players who have gone on to win Grand Slam titles.
Para-Tennis is fully integrated within the Loughborough environment, offering tailored support depending on classification and performance level, ensuring all athletes can train and compete effectively.

Performance
Our performance programme provides a high-performance training environment with expert interdisciplinary support, enabling players to develop alongside ATP/WTA-ranked athletes and compete professionally during and beyond their time at university.
Alongside competitive tennis, members can get involved with the AU Tennis Club committee and contribute to one of Loughborough’s most dynamic student sport communities
BUCS
The Loughborough Students’ AU Tennis Club provides a competitive and supportive environment for student-athletes to develop their game and represent the University across six men’s and five women’s BUCS teams.
Players benefit from up to eight hours of weekly squad training, dedicated strength and conditioning coaching, programming support and expert match-day coaching. The club also runs a performance support workshop each term, providing a holistic approach to player development.
Alongside competitive tennis, members can get involved with the AU Tennis Club committee and contribute to one of Loughborough’s most dynamic student sport communities. Membership also provides access to Athletic Union events and a vibrant social scene, offering plenty of opportunities to compete, develop and connect with others.
Development
Loughborough’s Development Tennis programme is ideal for students who want to improve their skills, stay active, and be part of a vibrant tennis community.
With up to four hours of student-coach-led sessions each week, players benefit from access to outstanding facilities, fun on- and off-court social events, and opportunities to represent the University in national leagues and inter-university competitions. Members can also get involved in the AU Tennis Club committee, contributing to one of Loughborough’s most dynamic student sport communities.
