Performance Squash
At Loughborough University, our ambition is to become the leading training environment for squash in the UK. We offer a unique opportunity for student-athletes to pursue sporting excellence while earning a prestigious degree from one of the UK’s top universities.
Our squash teams compete across multiple levels, giving players a broad and exciting range of match experiences. Athletes represent the university in British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS), take part in local county leagues across Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire, and compete in both national club competitions and individual PSA and graded events. This structure ensures our players are constantly challenged and supported as they progress.
Our programme is led by Head Coach Dan McGinn and is designed to help student-athletes thrive both on court and in the classroom. Each player follows a personalised training plan that fits around their academic timetable and degree workload. Whether you’re competing nationally, internationally, or aiming to get there, we provide the environment, structure and support to help you reach your goals.
Loughborough University Squash Club is home to four men’s and three women’s teams, including two high-performance squads on each side. These teams offer a competitive and collaborative space where players train together, push each other, and continually develop.
We actively recruit throughout the year and hold trials at the start of the academic calendar. Our coaches are always on the lookout for talented players ready to be part of a high-performance culture.
If you're ready to take your squash career to the next level while studying at one of the UK’s leading universities, Loughborough offers the perfect platform to do both.

The performance programme offers so much support to you, both as an athlete and as a student. My squash game has improved massively since being at Loughborough thanks to the performance support. The squash team culture is a very understanding and encouraging environment. We help each other to be better squash players and have all become good friends. I would describe the Loughborough culture as a big family.
