Loughborough University was proudly represented as GB Students secured a historic gold medal at the 2025 Master’U BNP Paribas Championships, with Tom Kisiel, Head of Performance Tennis at Loughborough University, serving as a Head Coach for the GB Students team, alongside Loughborough Tennis Scholar Eliz Maloney.

GB Students enjoyed a strong run through the competition, overcoming Switzerland in the quarter-finals and Australia in the semi-finals to progress to the final against defending champions, the USA.

In a dramatic conclusion to the Championships, the final was decided by a mixed doubles match tiebreak. With the tie level at 3–3, GB Students held their nerve to secure a thrilling 4–3 victory and claim the gold medal.

The title marks GB Students’ first Master’U win since 2017 and continues an exceptional period of success for British university tennis. The team have now secured eight consecutive medals at the Championships and 17 consecutive medals across major international university tennis events, including the FISU Summer World University Games.

Reflecting on the achievement, Head of Performance Tennis, Tom Kisiel said:

“Leading the GB team as a Head Coach was an incredible honour. Beating America, the favourites, in a final decided by mixed doubles was a fantastic moment. For Eliz and I to represent Loughborough on the global stage made it even more special. It’s a huge milestone for the team and for British university tennis.”

Loughborough University Tennis Scholar, Eliz Maloney added:

“I’ve loved representing GB, especially alongside such a great group of players and coaches. Winning the final in such dramatic fashion was an amazing experience that I’ll remember for a long time.”

Congratulations to the entire GB Students squad and coaching staff on a fantastic achievement at the 2025 Master’U BNP Paribas Championships.
