As Wimbledon gets ready to open its doors for another fortnight of top-class tennis, this year’s draw will feature a standout group of athletes from Loughborough University.

Representing the Loughborough University National Tennis Academy (LUNTA), current player Mika Stojsavljevic has been selected to compete in the main draw of the women’s singles as well as receiving a wildcard for the main draw in the women’s doubles.

The 2024 US Open Junior champion will be joined by LUNTA alumna Mimi Xu in both draws.

Henry Searle, an alumnus of LUNTA, will be looking to add to his landmark 2023 Wimbledon Boys’ title when he competes in both the main draw of the men’s singles and the main draw men’s doubles (wildcard).

Elsewhere, Ranah Stoiber, a fellow alumna of the academy, entered the qualifying stage of the women’s singles via a wildcard entry.

"It's fantastic to see our past and current National Academy players receive the opportunity to play the main draw at Wimbledon,” said Nathan Miller, Academy Director at Loughborough University National Tennis Academy.

“The primary aim of the National Tennis Academy here at Loughborough University is to develop top 100-ranked British professionals of the future, and it's exciting that they will get the opportunity to challenge the very best in the world on this prestigious stage.

“We would like to thank Wimbledon and The LTA on behalf of the players for their support in offering wild cards. Good luck to all!"

The university has further representation at SW19 as Pro Squad athlete Amelia Rajecki also competed in the women’s qualifying draw.

Alumna Olivia Nicholls will also play in the women’s doubles with alumnus Lloyd Glasspool set to play in the men’s doubles alongside former Loughborough player-coach, Julian Cash.

Tom Kisiel, Head Tennis Coach, Loughborough University, added: “We are delighted to see our players both past and present competing at Wimbledon this year. Liv, Lloyd and Julian will be going into SW19 full of confidence after winning WTA and ATP 500 titles respectively, last week - a fantastic achievement.

“The continued success of our players at the highest level further emphasises that Loughborough Tennis is a genuine pathway to the Pro Tour.”

This year’s Wimbledon Championship will take place from Monday 30 June – Sunday 13 July.
