Loughborough University has confirmed it will enter a team into the National Badminton League (NBL) when the competition returns in 2026.

Organised by Badminton England, the NBL brings together the country’s leading clubs and institutions in a league format designed to showcase the very best of the sport.

Loughborough’s inclusion underlines the university’s commitment to providing world-class sporting opportunities and strengthening the pathway for athletes on campus.

“We’re really excited to see Loughborough competing in the National Badminton League,” said Ian Read, NBL Team Director and Senior Performance Programme Manager.

“It’s a brilliant opportunity for our athletes to test themselves on a national stage and to grow the sport further here on campus.”

The return of the NBL marks another significant chapter in Loughborough’s sporting journey. Home fixtures will be staged on campus, and away matches will take place nationwide.

Full details of fixtures, venues and the team line-up will be confirmed in the coming months.
