Doris Greenwood returns to Lightning following a season with Cheltenham Town in the FAWNL Tier 3 South.
Before her time at Cheltenham, Greenwood was a key figure at Lightning, making 36 appearances across two seasons. Reflecting on her return, Greenwood said, “I’m so excited to be back with Lightning, the club had amazing facilities, management and a homely environment that stands out to me. I’m happy to be back playing with some amazing teammates. Bring on the new season!”
Becky Hogg joins from Derby County, bringing Tier 3 experience and returning to familiar territory.
The former Loughborough University student spent three seasons with County and is known for her versatility across defence and midfield. Hogg said on her move to Lightning, “I’m excited to be part of this club.
The team have been welcoming and the environment is something I will thrive in. I’m looking forward to what’s ahead, and I’m ready to hit the ground running.”
Lucy Cooper, a former forward for Moneyfields and Bournemouth, is another exciting addition to the squad. Cooper netted 19 goals in 28 appearances for Bournemouth during the 2023/24 season, narrowly missing out on the league title to Exeter City.
She then moved to Moneyfields, where she added six goals in 12 games. Speaking on her arrival at Lightning, Cooper shared,
“I am super excited to join Lightning! The girls and staff have been really welcoming, and it’s going to be the perfect environment for me to learn and develop.
I look forward to pushing myself and giving my best for the team, and can’t wait to see what this season will bring.”
With these three signings, Lightning strengthen their squad with proven talent, experience, and fresh energy as they set their sights on a competitive Tier 3 campaign.
