The Loughborough team will be looking to take full home advantage at this weekend’s annual Loughborough International, as Loughborough Past and Present take on teams from England, Wales, Scotland, the National Athletics League and GB&NI Juniors.

The Loughborough team includes a wealth of talent across all events including Tokyo Paralympic champion Ntando Mahlangu in the men’s para 400m, Commonwealth finalist Craig Murch in the men’s hammer, Olympic finalist Emily Borthwick in the high jump and multiple UK Championship medallist Ben Higgins in the 200m.

The team is bolstered by no less than 20 recent BUCS medallists including reigning British Champions and current UK number one ranked javelin throwers Bekah Walton and Ben East.

Emma Wiltshire, Athletics Programme Manager and LIA Meet Director commented,

“We have just come from a fantastic BUCS Championships where we won a record 57 medals in Manchester, so it’s great to see so many of those medallists in the Loughborough team. We welcome back global international athletes such as Emily and Joel in the high jump, and Ben Higgins in the 200m who was part of our amazing BUCS men’s 4 x 400m team in 2022. We can’t wait to see how our athletes get on against the best of the home nations, and it’s also fantastic to see how many Loughborough athletes have been selected to compete in other teams, showing the true depth and talent of Loughborough athletes. On behalf of the Loughborough athletics programme, we also want to say a huge thank you to the Loughborough Sport family who make this event happen. From the events team, to facilities, to marketing and media, it really is a true team effort. Now we just need to keep our fingers crossed for good weather!”
