Following a successful U16’s LTA Junior Nationals Event this week where three Loughborough University National Tennis Academy (LUNTA) Players were competing, six LUNTA players will now compete in in the U18 LTA Junior National Championships in Roehampton.

Zechariah Hamrouini and Ruby Cooling will be in qualifying, with Rhys Lawlor, Hollie Smart, Mika Stojsavljevic and Benjamin Gusic-Wan entering the main draw. Mika Stojsavljevic will be the third seed and Ben Gusic-Wan the fourth seed.

Rhys Lawlor and Hollie Smart come into the event off the back of a successful run in the U16’s event, with Hollie taking the Girls Singles Champion title, and Rhys winning the Boys Doubles tournament alongside partner Alex Winder.  Meanwhile, Mika, Ben, Ruby and Zech have been at a training camp at their Loughborough base in preparation for the tournament

Nationals hold a prestigious place in the Loughborough University National Tennis Academy calendar both due to the rewards on offer in the form of a wildcard into Wimbledon.

A wild card into the qualifying event for Wimbledon, as well as a wild card into the main draw of the Wimbledon junior championships, will be awarded to the 18U male and female winners

  • A wild card into the main draw of the Wimbledon junior championships will be awarded to the 18U male and female runners-up
  • A wild card for Wimbledon junior championships main draw doubles will be awarded to the 18U doubles male and female winning pairs.

The tournament also serves as it’s an opportunity for our LUNTA Players to compete against the best juniors in the country.

Our LUNTA Players are supported at the National Tennis Centre but several of our LUNTA Staff, are all working to give our players the best chance of being successful in the tournament.
