Sweet sixteen for World Cup bound Lightning players

Lightning's Sarah Hunter will captain England at the Women's Rugby World Cup.

Loughborough Lightning will be well represented at the upcoming Women's Rugby World Cup with 16 of its players set to appear on the sport’s biggest stage.

The home nations will have a large cohort of Lightning players in their squads for the showpiece tournament in New Zealand, including six each for both England and Scotland.

The Red Roses have called upon Sarah Hunter (Captain), Emily Scarratt (Vice Captain), Cath O’Donnell, Helena Rowland, Sadia Kabeya, and Morwenna Talling.

Meanwhile, the Scots have selected Leah Bartlett, Christine Belisle, Emma Wassell, Rachel Malcolm, Helen Nelson, and Megan Gaffney.

Elsewhere, Centre Carys Williams-Morris has been called-up to the Wales squad.  

Courtney Holtkamp, Sara Svoboda (both Canada), and Hallie Taufoou (USA) complete Lightning’s stellar line-up at the much anticipated 12-team competition.

The Women's Rugby World Cup will take place in New Zealand between Saturday 8 Oct 2022 – Saturday 12 Nov 2022.
