Alumna and Loughborough-based tennis player Olivia Nicholls has been selected to play in the Billie Jean King Cup Finals as part of the Great Britain team.

Olivia will be taking part in the doubles event in Glasgow alongside Team Bath’s Alicia Barnett.

After graduating from her studies in Sports Science with Management, Olivia continued training at Loughborough University, which is where she gained her level 3 coaching qualification.

“It’s an incredible feeling and a real honour to have been selected to represent GB at the Billie Jean King Cup. Me and Lissey have had a great year, breaking top 100 and winning our first WTA 250. We’ve been rewarded for our progress, and I can’t wait to get stuck in with the team in Glasgow,” Olivia told Loughborough Sport.

“Loughborough played a huge part in my development as a player. It’s an incredible university with an outstanding tennis set-up, and I’m very lucky to continue working with Tom Kiesel who has coached me since I was a student there”.

Great Britain will play against Kazakhstan and Spain in Group Stage C of the competition. The games will take place on Tuesday 8 and Thursday 10 November respectively, with the four winning teams qualifying for the semi-finals.
