Five Loughborough students selected for FISU World University Cross Country Championships

After a successful BUCS cross country campaign, five Loughborough students have been selected to compete for GB Students at the FISU World University Cross Country Championships in Aveiro, Portugal on Saturday 12 March 2022.

The team includes women’s BUCS cross country champion Kirsty Walker as well as third placed finisher in the BUCS men’s race, Matt Stonier.

They will both compete in the individual women’s and men’s races respectively. European gold medallist Ben West will be joined by Alex Millard and Ned Potter in the mixed relay.

Emma Wiltshire, Loughborough’s athletics programme manager, commented on the selections:

“It’s a busy and exciting time for athletics at Loughborough. After an extremely successful cross country campaign, we’re delighted that Loughborough can contribute towards the GB students team for the upcoming World University Cross Country Championships.

“Portugal will provide an excellent opportunity for International competition and hopefully Loughborough students can help bring some medals back to the UK.”
