You’ve got this – but there’s support available if you need it

It’s the middle of exam season, and many students are also meeting coursework deadlines this month.

It can be a stressful time of year but don’t forget the University has a number of support services available for you to access if you feel you might be struggling.

A lot of students can feel anxious during this time. If you’re experiencing pessimistic thoughts, feel more tense or pressured than usual and have physical symptoms such as lack of sleep, a racing heart or even panic attacks, you could be experiencing anxiety. There’s a range of self-help guides about anxiety, depression and exam stress on our webpages as well as a list of external support services should you need them.

The University’s Student Services offer counselling and support with mental health, disability and specific learning differences. Please note these services are well used, so if you are interested in booking an appointment you may be placed onto a waiting list. More information about this can be found here.

Alternatively, you may feel more comfortable speaking to LSU Advice – they are based in the Students’ Union and provide independent, confidential and non-judgemental advice to students who are in conflict with the University or may be facing difficulties with their studies. You can email them or phone 01509 635072.

If you’re looking for a quiet space to revise, or are seeking spiritual support, we have the Centre for Faith and Spirituality based upstairs in the Edward Herbert Building where students can take a break, study, or speak to one of the Chaplains who are on hand to help.

For more information on support available throughout the exam and coursework period – such as study spaces, Library information, Maths and English support and exam rules and regulations – visit our dedicated website.
