Research ethics and integrity
The University is committed to enabling researchers across all career levels to achieve research excellence.
Under the leadership of the Pro-Vice Chancellor (Research), the University supports its research community to ensure that all research conducted is safe, lawful, and of the highest standards of rigour and integrity.
These standards are based on principles and professional responsibilities that are central to the protection of the research community, research participants, and to ensure public trust in the research that we produce.
The Research Governance team works with the Ethics Committee and its sub committees to develop and monitor relevant University policies. We also provide guidance and training to all researchers across the University in governance, ethics, and integrity matters.
All research is subject to a proportionate level of ethical scrutiny. The University’s ethical clearance process is designed to ensure that all research activities undertaken by staff and students are conducted in a way that protects the dignity, rights, health, safety, and privacy of all involved.
