Football at Loughborough is supported by a great coaching team, we have teams for all abilities and everyone is welcome to join.
Athletic Union Club
We have four squads competing across multiple platforms. The first team competes in the Women’s Premier League Division 1 and in the BUCS Premier North, the highest University football level.
Our teams compete in the following leagues yearly:
- 1st Team – Women’s Premier League Division 1, BUCS Premier North, BUCS Championship KO Cup
- 2nd Team – Women’s Premier League Reserves Midlands Division, BUCS League Midlands 1A, BUCS Trophy KO Cup
- 3rd Team – BUCS League Midlands 2A, BUCS Conference KO Cup
- 4th Team – BUCS League Midlands 3B, BUCS Conference KO Cup
We practice two times per week, and we also have one recovery session and an independent gym session done in your own time to suit your schedule.
Coaching our teams are nine voluntary coaches and a voluntary performance analyst, as well as 15 voluntary committee members. We also have student coaches helping with the second, third and fourth teams.
Hall sport (IMS)
We encourage you to compete in football for your halls of residence in IMS competitions held throughout the year. You compete in teams against other halls, and these competitions are always great fun.
Our social leagues programme offers free, competitive sport that allows you to play sport socially with your friends.
Open to all students at Loughborough University, our department sport competition gives you the opportunity to compete against friends in other departments in weekly leagues and one-day events. Department teams enter into the football social league.
Football is also available through the My Lifestyle initiative, where you can give the sport a go and have loads of fun at the same time.
Coaching and volunteering
Within most sports there are a range of sports volunteering roles and opportunities for you to get involved and gain experience in. This ranges from coaching and officiating to events, marketing and media and sport science support.
