Men's Basketball
Basketball at Loughborough has developed significantly over the past five years and is quickly becoming one of the leading programmes within men’s basketball in the UK. We cater for a wide range of abilities, and everyone is welcome to try out.
Performance
Our performance team, Loughborough Riders, compete in the UK's National Basketball League Division One (NBL D1) and in the British Universities and Colleges (BUCS) for Loughborough Student's Basketball.
Our programme is in partnership with Leicester Riders, who play in the British Basketball League which is the top league in the UK, Loughborough College and Charnwood College, a prestigious basketball academy.
Athletic Union Club
Our elite team competes in the British Universities and Colleges (BUCS) Premier competition and we have a further three teams playing in various BUCS leagues. We train twice a week in the Sir David Wallace Sports Hall or the Netball & Badminton Centre.
We also offer a less competitive team that caters for all abilities, whether you just want to have fun and learn some new skills in a relaxed, friendly environment, or if you just want to meet some new people, then the development team is perfect.
Hall Sport (IMS)
Basketball is also played in Intramural Sport (IMS) between different halls with competitions held throughout the year. This is a great way to get involved in hall life and meet new people in a fun and competitive environment.
Social sport
The University's social sport programme offers free, competitive basketball that allows participants to play socially. You can represent your department, society and/or as a group of friends.
My Lifestyle
Basketball is also available through the My Lifestyle programme, where you can give the sport a go and have loads of fun at the same time.
