What is social sport?
Social Sport is perfect for students who want to play sports with friends, meet new people, and enjoy a commitment-free sports experience. The leagues let you choose your level of competition, making it a great way to stay active while taking a break from academic demands.
You can join leagues as a group of friends, a department, or even a society. While the competitions, across badminton, football, netball, table tennis, and tennis, can be competitive, they’re also more relaxed than playing for your hall or AU team.
Social Sport also includes one-day events in niche sports, giving you a fantastic chance to try something new.
Leagues run during Terms 1 and 2, with one-day events taking place throughout the year, so there’s always something to get involved in.
How to get involved
You can join Social Sport leagues at the start of Terms 1 and 2 via the Lboro Sport app. Places are limited, and teams are asked to pay a small refundable deposit, which is returned at the end of the term.
Societies and departments get a priority sign-up window 24 hours before general league registration opens.
One-day events run all year round, and sign-ups open a few weeks before each event. For the latest updates on dates, sports, and how to join, check out Lboro Social Sport on Instagram.
