Loughborough alum Molly Caudery wins gold at World Athletics Championships

Loughborough University alum Molly Caudery has been crowned world champion after winning gold in the women’s pole vault at the World Indoor Athletics Championships.

Caudery delivered a standout performance to secure the top spot on the podium, marking a major milestone in her career and further cementing her status as one of the world’s leading pole vaulters.

A graduate of Loughborough and a product of the University’s world-renowned sporting environment, her success reflects the strength of the athlete development pathway and the wider high-performance ecosystem that supports elite competitors.

Her gold medal adds to a growing list of achievements for Loughborough athletes on the global stage, highlighting the University’s continued contribution to international sporting success.

Also in action over the weekend were current students Poppy Malik (women’s 4x400m relay), Molly Palmer (long jump), and Georgie Forde-Wells (triple jump), with the Championships marking a first Great Britain call-up for both Palmer and Forde-Wells.

Speaking after her victory, Caudery described the moment as a dream come true following years of dedication, training and perseverance.
