Exam support asset - desk set up

Students: Don’t forget to submit evidence for any adjustments you need for taking exams

The University recognises some students may need additional support with exams to help them achieve their true academic potential. Exam adjustments are agreed between you and your Advisor and are put in place to help ensure that your exam experience is as smooth as possible.

If you have a disability or medical condition that you think could affect your performance in exams and assessments, you should contact the Student Welling and Inclusivity team at your earliest opportunity to discuss these. They will assess whether reasonable adjustments can be put in place to support you.

Exam adjustments include:

  • Additional time
  • Rest breaks
  • Permission for personal belongings at your desk eg medication
  • Smaller (or sometimes individual rooms) where you can sit the exam
  • Adapted print media eg enlarged font sizes

Make sure to check that your adjustments are in place prior to the deadlines below, as not all adjustments (eg if you had extra time for school exams) transfer automatically.

If Student Wellbeing and Inclusivity (SWAI) receive diagnostic evidence as per their policy or have a 1-1 meeting with you:

  • Before Sunday 11 December, then this will ensure your exam adjustments are processed in time
  • Between Monday 12 December-Wednesday 4 January, then they will aim to have your adjustments processed in time but cannot guarantee it
  • From Thursday 5 January your adjustments will not be processed (but will be added to your record for future exam periods)

Check your current exam adjustments via the self-service portal.

If they are not as you expected, please contact studentinclusion@lboro.ac.uk or 01509 222765.
