Prospective students
MCCUs are designed for cricketers with the potential to play First Class Cricket and beyond. Many applicants may already have County 1st team, U19, or 2nd XI experience by the time they reach university. While a representative background is advantageous, the MCCU is open to any cricketer who follows the application process.
As Centres of Excellence, MCCUs select only the best young players with the potential and commitment to progress into County Cricket. Talented players just below this level can also benefit from the superior facilities and coaching available at MCCU institutions.
At Loughborough, for example, we monitor University squad players just below MCCU level to ensure emerging or late-developing talent is supported, with access to experienced coaches and strong development pathways.
To apply or for more information, please email Head Coach Russell Cobb.
