My Learn To

My Learn To is designed to introduce students to a variety of different activities - teaching you the basic skills and techniques to get you playing with more confidence.

The My Learn To scheme offers students (under & postgraduates) the chance to participate in 6-8 week courses led by experienced coaches. Courses are designed to introduce and teach you the skills you need to start you off in a variety of activities. If you’d like to gain confidence and learn a new sport, you’re in the right place!

How to Book:

You can book your place on a course from Monday 12th October 2020. Book your place using the Lboro Sport app via the My Lifestyle Tab. Courses are free to book, however a £10 admin fee may be charged if you do not complete the course. Please see below the Terms and Conditions regarding the booking process.

My Learn To SQUASH

This course aimed at those who are new to squash. You will be introduced you to the basic skills and techniques involved in the game and gain confidence. The instructors work individually with each person to achieve their personal goals.

When? Tuesday from 18:00-19:30, starting on the 20th October through to 8th December 2020 (8 weeks). 

Where? Edward Herbert Building Squash Courts 

Where else can I get involved?

  • Take part in the My Progress To Squash course following the completion of the Learn To course.
  • Hire out a squash court and have a practice.

My Progress To SQUASH

This course aimed at those who have attended the My Learn To Squash course previsouly or have some basic playing exeprience. The course aims to develop you as a player and progress previously learnt skills. Our instructors work individually with each person to achieve their personal goals.

When? Monday from 18:00-19:30, starting on the 19th October through to 7th December 2020 (8 weeks)

Where? Edward Herbert Building Squash Courts

My learn To DANCE

This course aims to introduce beginners to various styles of dance. The course consists of blocks focusing on Contemporary, Ballet and Latin styles. You must attend all blocks in the course. Our expereinced AU Dance coaches will teach you the basic technique for each style and help you achieve your personal goals.

When? Tuesday from 19:00-20:00, starting on the 20th October through to 24th November 2020 (6 weeks).

Where? Martin Hall Studio (in Martin Hall Building)

*Please note, due to COVID-19, participants cannot participate in bare feet. We recommend wearing trainers or suitable dance shoes where possible.

Terms & Conditions

  1. Only Loughborough University students (under & postgrads) are permitted to attend My Learn To courses.
  2. Places on the course are FREE to book - however a £10 admin fee will be charged to those who do not successfully complete the course. This means they attend all sessions of their course. Missed sessions will only be accepted for valid reasoning. 
  3. Those that have booked to attend a course and no longer wish to take part may cancel their place, but a £10 admin fee may be charged. Cancellations will only be accepted for those who:
    • Cannot participate in excerise due to medical reasons - A full doctors note will be required to support the refund process.
    • Are withdrawing their studies at Loughborough University - A signed and confrimed leave of absence letter from the University is required to support the refund request.
  4. You are not permitted to do the same course in both Semester 1 and 2.
    • My Lifestyle advises that you attend the My Progress To course where possible, following the attendance of the respective My Learn To course.
    • If you wish to attend the same course in both Semester 1 and 2, please contact the My Lifestyle team and you will be put on the waiting list.

How long are the courses?

The courses range from 6 to 8 weeks in length, usually with one session per week. Most sessions last 1 hour in duration, but length of sessions can differ. Please check the specific information on each course for full details.

What level of ability do I have to be?

My Learn To courses are designed to provide coaching to beginners and people new to the sport. The My Progress To courses are designed for those who have already attended the My Learn To course in the specific sport and want to progress their learning.

Do I need my own equipment?

No, all equipmnent is provided! All you need to do is wear comfortable, sports clothing. But if you have your own equipment - feel free to bring it along.

How much do the courses cost?

The course is free to book. However a £10 admin fee will be charged if you do not complete the course. Please see the Terms & Conditions for full details on the booking and refund process.

What does successful completion of the course look like?

Attending every session of the course, unless a valid reason for non-attendance is provided at the earliest possible opportunity. Please see the Terms & Conditions for more information.
