Listening to lived experience
Student stories and lived experiences help us understand what is working well, where there are gaps and how the University can continue to evolve to meet the needs of our student community.
We’re lucky to have heard from a group of students at the University who have kindly agreed to share their experiences with the wider student body on our dedicated webpage. Here, you can find out more from students with a range of experiences and backgrounds, including those navigating mental health challenges, disabilities, neurodivergence, as well as other personal backgrounds and circumstances such as being a care leaver.
The development of the Neurodiversity and Mental Health team, which provides specialist support to students, reflects the University’s ongoing response to the different experiences and needs shared by our students.
Support that reflects individual needs
Loughborough wellbeing teams provide individualised support including one-to-one appointments, workshops, self-help resources and referrals to specialist services.
We’re also continuing to develop ways for students to access support where and when they need it, including organising in-school wellbeing drop-ins. If you would like to find out more about drop-in support available in your School, speak to your School’s admin team.
Connecting students through community
Connection, belonging and opportunities to meet other students can also make an important contribution to wellbeing.
On Thursday 15 October, the Student Wellbeing and Inclusivity team is working with Recreational Sport and Loughborough Wellbeing Centre to bring students together off-campus for an informal evening of buffet food, board games and boccia from 6pm-8pm at Loughborough Wellbeing Centre (Asha House, 63 Woodgate, Loughborough, LE11 2TZ).
This event has been developed in response to the needs students have shared, including the importance of creating opportunities for students who may spend less time on campus to connect with others in a relaxed and welcoming environment. Book your place now via the event page.
Something for everyone
Throughout the year, Student Services offer a range of wellbeing events, workshops and activities covering topics from managing anxiety and stress to homesickness, sleep and more.

#Me: The wellbeing and resilience course for students
#Me is an external student support initiative developed by Loughborough Business School alum Megan Gamble. The free-to-access course offers a safe space to discuss shared problems and develop support strategies for your personal development and wellbeing.
The course is available to and beneficial for all students, from undergraduate students (including those on placement years) to postgraduate students and doctoral researchers. Once signed up, you’ll be allocated to a group with around five other like-minded students to meet over a 12-week period starting from 26 October 2026.
