Apply now for the Seedcorn Funding Challenge for Sport, Health and Wellbeing projects

Associate Pro Vice-Chancellor’s Professors David Fletcher and Diwei Zhou are pleased to announce the Sport, Health and Wellbeing strategic theme Seedcorn Funding Challenge.

The objective of this funding challenge is to provide investment and support to early-stage University sport, health and wellbeing-related projects that contribute to one or more of the following aims:

  • To amplify the impact of the University’s strengths in sport, health and wellbeing
  • To draw together activities within the University that contribute to sport, health and wellbeing
  • To consolidate and advance the University’s status as a global leader in sport
  • To explore how we can maximise the health and wellbeing of the University community

Applications should:

  • Focus on maximising impact in areas of strategic importance and go beyond ‘business as usual’ activities
  • Span sport, health and wellbeing (although not necessarily equally)
  • Involve staff and/or students from multiple academic schools, professional services, and/or athletic services
  • Contribute to objectives of various University core plans and/or enabling projects

All project activities must be completed and all funds must be spent by 31 July 2024.

The total funds requested should be in the region of £1,000-£3,000, although well-justified projects applying for more funds will be considered.

Please submit your application via the online form by 12pm on Friday 31 May.
