Important Information about Loughborough Cycling Festival: Sunday 28 May 2023

Loughborough University are delighted to host the Loughborough Cycling Festival on Sunday 28 May 2023, incorporating the National Youth Circuit Series.

All races will take place on our true to name, criterium course, with a steep hill and numerous 90 degree turns to test riders both physically and technically. Only the very best all-round riders will cross the finish line first.

There will be entertainment for all the family including a balance bike course for children aged 18+ months, a cycle skills course for older riders and face painting.

Campus users should be aware of the following information:

Road closures on Sunday 28 May between 7am-6.30pm

There will be a full road closure around some parts of the East Park.

There will be no access to the following roads:

  • University Road between the Main Entrance and junction by Student Services
  • Margaret Keay Road between the junction by the Medical Centre and junction by James France
  • East Link Road
  • Towers Way between University Road and junction with East Link Road

The West Park will be unaffected and there will be a one-way system around the student village.

Please note that there will be restrictions on vehicles entering the campus via Epinal Way.

There are no issues with pedestrian access.

Halls of Residence that will be impacted

The following halls will be affected by the road closures.  Once the road closures are in place there will be no opportunities to move any vehicles.

  • Car Parks 5, 5a, 8, 13, 14, 15, 18, 19
  • Students Union Car Park (Rear)

  • Bridgeman Centre
  • Design and Tech

If you need to use your vehicle on Sunday 28 May we strongly advise you move your vehicle before 7am.  You can move your car to the multistorey car park or the library car park.

Use of PA systems

Please note that there will be PA systems used around the circuit providing commentary to spectators.
