How to get involved in sport at Loughborough

There are so many opportunities available for students who want to get into sports on a more social and casual level.

Recreational Sport

The Recreational Sport Programme offers free and inclusive activities, specifically designed for students and staff. It creates an environment that is free from competition, is inclusive, safe and fun. Whether you’re returning to sport or have never played before, these sessions cater to all abilities.

All the activities can be booked through the Loughborough Sport app. They are led by volunteer student activators who aim to ensure a positive, friendly environment that includes everyone who attends.

The new My Lifestyle weekly timetable will start on Monday 10 October. Sessions are available to book via the Lboro Sport app.

Social Sport

The Social Sport programme offers free* competitive weekly leagues in a variety of sports including:

  • Tennis

  • Mixed Netball

  • 3v3 Mixed Basketball

  • 6-a-side Football

It is a great way to play competitive sport, stay active and socialise. Alongside these leagues, social sport offers the opportunity to participate in one-day events such as Karting, Badminton, e-sports and Bubble Football.

* Each team must put down a refundable deposit which will be returned when the league finishes, provided the team adheres to the league rules and policies.

Intra-Mural Sport (IMS)

This is a free programme open to every Loughborough University student and is a fantastic way to make friends and compete in a range of diverse and inclusive sports that will ensure you get the most out of your hall experience.

The IMS leagues begin on the 10 October. If you are currently living in halls of residence, the easiest way to get involved is to contact your Sport Secs or via your halls IMS Instagram page.

Any student living on or off campus can affiliate with a hall to participate in IMS. Affiliate online and then contact for more information.
