Call of interest now open for Loughborough’s Annual Research Conference

Enhanced Academic Practice (Organisational Development) and the Doctoral College are pleased to announce that Loughborough University’s Annual Research Conference will take place on 6 December 2022 and is open for all for doctoral researchers and research staff to attend.

Aligned to the University's bold and ambitious strategy, the theme of this year's conference is 'Creating better research. Together' to emphasise that we can achieve greater influence and impact when we work in partnership.

A large part of the conference is dedicated to the voice of researchers and a call of interest is now open for oral and poster presentations.

The conference will also feature interactive workshops, exhibitors who specialise in supporting researchers, and a networking lunch.

Professor Steve Christie, the Associate Pro Vice-Chancellor (Doctoral College), commented: “The Annual Research Conference is a highlight in the University’s event calendar and offers a brilliant opportunity for researchers at all levels and in all disciplines to connect; something essential to establishing and maintaining a creative and collaborative research community.”

The morning keynote speaker is Professor Dan Parsons, the University’s recently appointed Pro Vice-Chancellor of Research and Innovation. Professor Parsons will share experiences of being a collaborative researcher and discuss Loughborough University’s research vision.

Professor Parsons commented: “I am very much looking forward to attending the Annual Research Conference and engaging with researchers from across the University without whom our strong reputation and capability would not be as it is.

“I would encourage as many doctoral researchers and research staff as possible to take advantage of this excellent multi-disciplinary event since connecting and networking with others, expanding knowledge beyond your field, and presenting ideas to others is central to our aspirations at Loughborough.”

The afternoon keynote speaker is Professor Charlotte Croffie, the University’s first Pro Vice-Chancellor of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI). During the conference, Professor Croffie will also share experiences of being a collaborative researcher and why EDI matters in research.

Professor Croffie said: “It is my firm belief that Research and Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) are not mutually exclusive. Consequently, the Annual Research Conference provides an excellent opportunity for the diverse research community at Loughborough University to come together, share cutting-edge work, and importantly learn from each other. During my keynote, I will discuss why initiating and embedding EDI practices is crucial to conducting meaningful and impactful research and creating inclusive and collaborative communities in all disciplines.”

The event will take place in the Sir Denis Rooke Building (Holywell Park) and online. It is free to attend, and bookings can be made via the conference webpage.
