Jennifer Glover

Shortlist success for Aeronautical Engineering PhD student

A Loughborough PhD Engineering student has been recognised with a nomination at this year’s Engineering Talent Awards.

The Engineering Talent Awards 2021 aim to celebrate the diversity of the engineering and technology profession by celebrating role models and inspiring people to consider a career in the sector.

Jennifer Glover, who is currently a research student at the University, has been shortlisted for the ‘Engineering Student of the Year’ award. This category aims to recognise an inspirational student, who promotes studying engineering to others and is passionate about creating an inclusive industry.

Alongside her PhD, which looks at new, more efficient, and sustainable methods of soundproofing for aircraft engines, Jennifer is a strong advocate for gender equality in engineering as an active member of the Women’s Engineering Society (WES). Continually paving the way for others in engineering, Jennifer takes pride in sharing her knowledge and inspires those interested in a career in STEM subjects through her outreach work.

Jennifer said: “I am delighted to be nominated for the Engineering Talent Awards recognising the volunteering in diversity and equality that I have done alongside my studies. I am determined to make engineering an excellent career for all, and the awards are a brilliant motivation to continue with this ambition.”

Category winners of the Engineering Talent Awards 2021 will be announced on Thursday 9 September, along with the Overall Excellence in Engineering award.
