Fileport application to be decommissioned

The legacy Fileport application, which has mainly been used for University Committees over recent years, is due to be decommissioned in January 2022

This is following the launch of the new Committees website this week.

As a security measure, from Wednesday 22 December 2021 the legacy Fileport application will be disabled off-campus unless you are using the VPN.  It will still be possible to access it normally on campus.

The legacy Fileport application will be decommissioned and turned off for all on Wednesday 19 January 2022.

Fileport was developed in-house specifically for collaboration with the 2012 Olympic training camp organisers. The application developer left the University nine years ago, and security patches can no longer be applied.

Using MS Teams significantly improves the dynamic working experience and removes any dependency on the legacy Fileport application. More details on the MS Teams training is available on the IT Services website

Fileport provided web-based access to files located on the Group Workspace service, this has largely been replaced by MS Teams; but Group Workspaces will continue to be available until October 2023. More details on the Group Workspace service, and how to access it, is available here

This decommissioning has been endorsed by the Microsoft Teams Phase II Project Management Board and was announced in June 2021
