Decommissioning of the Fileport Application

With the use of modern collaboration tools such as Office 365, and as more colleagues move to using MS Teams, the need for legacy applications like Fileport to access Group Workspace have reduced significantly.

Fileport was developed in-house specifically for collaboration with the 2012 Olympic training camp organisers. The application developer has since left the University, and security patches can no longer be applied nine years later.

Using MS Teams significantly improves the hybrid working experience and removes any dependency on the legacy Fileport application. More details on the MS Teams training available is available on the IT Services website

It is proposed to decommission Fileport in December 2021, once all University Committees have been migrated to MS Teams.
