National Inclusion Week: Training and development opportunities for staff

Here at Loughborough, we are proud to offer an extensive range of training and development opportunities at all levels.

A recent example includes our Leadership Forum, which was attended by 165 leaders who engaged in discussion and debate about the importance of inclusive leadership and how to demonstrate this in practice. As a result, work continues to take place in this area.

If you are interested in other development opportunities available, check out the below courses:

  • Mental Health Aware – a session to raise awareness of mental health in the workplace. The next one takes place on 25 February, and you can book a place online via My.HR.
  • LGBT Awareness – for all staff interested in finding out what to do and say if a colleague or student came out to you.
  • Springboard –an event for anyone identifying as a woman to help build self-confidence, develop a positive attitude to work and life and reach your potential.
  • Respecting Diversity – gain an understanding of current equality legislation and expected behaviours, and relevant policies and procedures.
  • Diversity and Inclusion in HE – an online introduction or refresher course on the Equality Act 2010 and your responsibility in the workplace.
  • Loughborough Management Programme – This is a pilot programme which commenced in September, to support managers to lead inclusively. There are plans to launch this across the University once the pilot has concluded, if you have any queries please email od@lboro.ac.uk.

For more information and to sign up for any of these opportunities, please visit the Organisational Development website.

This week is National Inclusion Week- a great reminder about the importance of inclusivity. However, it is not a one-off event, and the University is keen to hear your views on what inclusion looks like to you, as well as what you would like Loughborough to be doing more of.

The Human Resources and Organisational Development department is also asking for suggestions on a range of activities to be held throughout the year. This might include family events, networking lunches, panels and other development opportunities.

If you would like to get in touch, please contact od@lboro.ac.uk.
