The Maia Committee are excited to announce that they will be hosting the 5th Maia Anniversary Event on Thursday 22 May 4pm-6pm at Burleigh Court.
This annual celebration marks the work and achievements of women, trans women, and non-binary people comfortable in a female-centred community from across the university.
Alongside speeches from MAIA’s sponsors, network updates, and opportunities to meet new people, certificates will be presented for the Inspirational Women’s Award 2025. These awards highlight fantastic women across campus, recognising achievements that align with MAIA’s core themes: Action, Belonging & Inclusion, and Cohesion. This year, a new category is being introduced to celebrate allyship - recognising individuals, including men and non-binary people, who have demonstrated outstanding allyship, support, and advocacy.
The anniversary event is also a great opportunity for those who aren’t yet members to find out more about the MAIA staff network. Those who choose to join will receive updates about events and news, as well as the chance to connect with women from across the university. To become a member, please complete the registration form.
This family-friendly event is open to all MAIA staff members and doctoral researchers, with activities available for children.
For anyone attending alone, the Maia Committee intends to implement options to ensure everyone feels as welcome as possible - please indicate this when registering.
Food and refreshments will be provided. Please share any dietary requirements when registering.
