An Introduction to Recording Music (short course)
This hands-on five-week course will introduce you to the basics of recording music. You'll start by learning how to prepare your songs for recording, followed by tips on recording acoustic instruments, vocals, electric guitar and bass. You'll then cover how to use recording software to add percussion, strings, synths etc. Finally, you'll learn about mixing and mastering your music for online streaming or CD release.
The course is open to anyone interested in making a start in recording music. You'll have a chance to try out equipment and software in the sessions, and do not need your own. If you'd like to develop the skills learned outside the class, advice will be given on what equipment or software might work best for you, and you'll be able to make use of the music rooms in Martin Hall (free MusicVIP membership required).
The classes will take place every Wednesday, 6-8pm in Martin Hall. Refunds will not be given if you are not able to attend a class.
There is step free access into the building and the room is located on the ground floor of Martin Hall. An accessible toilet is located along the corridor from the room.
If you have any specific access requirements or anything you would like us to be aware of when running the event, please let us know via the booking form or email LUArts@lboro.ac.uk in advance of booking and we will do our best to accommodate them.
The course will be delivered by Ian Crabtree. A professional guitar player, producer and songwriter, Ian has written songs for The Voice 2014 finalist Sally Barker, top jazz pianist Oli Silk and legendary UK funk outfit Down to the Bone. He regularly writes and produces music for Clearwave/BMG and Loaded music publishers.
