August Confirmation and Clearing Contact Centre – Volunteers needed!

Do you want an opportunity to do something different, while playing a key part in the start of many students’ Loughborough journey?

In August 2026, the Admissions Office will again be running a dedicated Confirmation and Clearing Contact Centre to handle the large volume of telephone calls it receives from undergraduate students in the following categories:

• Students who have applied to the University and who are querying their admission following the publication of the A-level results.
• Students who have not applied to the University but are enquiring about possible vacancies through Clearing.

In past years, over 7,000 calls have been handled in two days, with close to 1,000 provisional Clearing offers being made by the Contact Centre team.

The Contact Centre will be coordinated by the Admissions Office and will run over a short, intense period around the A-level publication date, Thursday 13 August, and we are looking for members of staff to work alongside students in this fast-moving process. There may also be the possibility to support on Friday, 14 August, when we have a reduced number of call handlers.

A compulsory training session will be provided on either Tuesday, 4 or Wednesday, 5 August.

How do I get involved?

Please complete the sign-up form if you would like to volunteer to be a call handler this August.

Know a Student Ambassador who wants to get involved? We are recruiting students to act as Call Handlers on both 13 and 14 August. Shifts and job information will be on the Dashboard in the next few days.

Please note that if you have a relative or other close connection who will be receiving their results in this period, you will not be able to work at the Confirmation and Clearing Contact Centre.

This is a voluntary opportunity to be undertaken with your line manager's permission. We are not able to compensate colleagues who take on this role outside of their usual working hours.
