The Vibrant & Inclusive Communities (VIC) Research Network is offering small grants of up to £500 to support networking and research development activities that build capacity and connections within one or more of its five thematic areas. Proposals must demonstrate clear objectives, build capacity, and avoid duplicating existing work. Funds must be used by 31 March 2026.
The Vibrant & Inclusive Communities (VIC) Research Network is inviting applications for small pots of funding to support networking activities or research development activities. The funding is aimed at developing connections with colleagues in theme groups to support ongoing collaboration and exchange. The network will be organised around five themes. These were co-created with colleagues from across the academic schools in a series of development workshops held in Spring 2025.
In order to be eligible, proposals must build capacity and connections in one or more of the thematic research areas below. Awards will only be made to networking or capacity building activity that is not already being undertaken elsewhere in the University. Each award will be a maximum of £500. £500 is the maximum that will be awarded per theme.
The Application must state the specific objectives of the activity and clearly demonstrate what the activity will achieve (outputs/outcomes). Funded activities may include, but are not limited to:
- Methodology workshops
- Symposia with guest speakers
- Sandpits/Hackathons
- Networking activities
- Scoping studies
- Research development training
- Stakeholder events
The funds will need to be spent by March 31st, 2026.
