Below are some of the ways staff can get involved, get moving, boost their wellbeing and have fun along the way.
Rec Sport
Rec Sport sessions are informal activities run by students for staff and students who want to keep fit and play sport for fun. There's no competition, expectation or commitment, and everyone is welcome, whether you're returning to a sport or have never played.
Book through the Loughborough Sport app and find more details on the Rec Sport page.
‘Pay as you play’ for racket sports, pitches, sports halls and more
Pay As You Go (PAYG) bookings are available for racket sports (eg padel, squash, tennis and badminton) and for pitches, sports halls, cricket nets and specific sports set-ups, including futsal, indoor and outdoor football and hockey.
These can be made through the Loughborough Sport app two weeks in advance or block bookings can be made by emailing sportbookings@lboro.ac.uk .
Enjoy our world-class sports facilities and services with a discounted Loughborough Sport membership
You can choose from three membership options: Gold, Silver and Bronze, with all options available to pay annually or monthly. Family members can also join at a discounted rate. Gold is available exclusively to students, staff and affiliates, whereas silver and bronze have discounts for staff.
If you’ve started working at the University in the last six months, you can enjoy a two-week free trial of our Gold membership. This gives you access to Holywell Fitness Centre, the Powerbase gym, the swimming pool and classes. To activate your trial, please email sportmemberships@lboro.ac.uk with your preferred start date within the next two weeks.
For more information about memberships, visit the Loughborough Sport app and website. Staff based at the London campus can access memberships at the Copper Box Arena, London Aquatics Centre, Lee Valley VeloPark and Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre.
As an employee, you can also get 10% off your first treatment at our Physiotherapy Clinic, where our expert clinicians specialise in physiotherapy, sports injury, massage and podiatry.
Make the most of our campuses and their surroundings
From the Paddock and running routes, to free-to-use sport spaces like the Games Park and Ball Park, there are plenty of places to get active on your doorstep. Colleagues based at our London campus can enjoy trails in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park which are ideal for walking or running.
As the evenings draw in, stay safe when running in the dark by wearing reflective gear and lights, and by using open-ear or bone-conduction headphones so you can stay aware of your surroundings.
Cycle to work and save
Our Cycle2Work scheme can save you up to 42% on a bike and related equipment. It's open to employees who have completed six months' service.
