The timing has been based on recent weather conditions and forecast temperatures. Delaying the start of the heating season where conditions allow helps to avoid unnecessary energy consumption, reduce costs and support the University’s carbon-reduction commitments, while maintaining a suitable environment for staff and students.
It is likely to take several days for the system to become fully operational across all buildings. Weather conditions and building temperatures will continue to be monitored, with adjustments made where necessary. Areas with specific operational, technical or welfare requirements will be considered separately.
Once the heating is operational, any ongoing issues should be reported through the FM Helpdesk.
